Gangotri, the source of the river Ganges and seat of the goddess Ganga. The river is called Bhagirathi at the source and acquires the name Ganga from Devprayag onwards where it meets the Alaknanda. The origin of the holy river is at Gaumukh, which is an 18 km trek from Gangotri. The picturesque pilgrimage in the hinter lands of the Himalayas is the most sacred spot where Ganga, Where Ganga got down from Himalyas to earth. According to mythology, Goddess Ganga - the daughter of heaven, manifested herself in the form of a river to absolve the sins of king Bhagirath's predecessors. Around 100 yards from the Ganga temple, flows the river Kedar Ganga. Starting from the Kedar valley, this river meets the Bhagirathi river on its left bank

Gangotri Temple
It is believed that during the ancient times the Pandavas performed a yagna here. Located near the temple is a sacred stone called the Bhagirath Shila, a slab of stone where the king Bhagirath worshiped Lord Shiva. Submerged in the holy river here is the self-manifested Shivalinga. It is believed that it is at this place where Lord Shiva received river Ganga in his matted locks.
Gaumukh Glacier
The snout of the Gangotri Glacier and the source of the Bhagirathi river. Pilgrims trek upto the sacred spot on foot or on ponies to take a holy dip in the ice-cold water.
Nandanvan
For trekkers, Nandanvan is a great trekking site offering picturesque views of nature.
Dayara Bugyal:
A breathtakingly beautiful meadow. The famous Sheshnag Temple enroute is an attraction of the trek. From Dayara, one can also trek down to Dodi Tal (30 kms.). During winters, Dayara provides excellent ski slopes over an area of 28 sq.kms..
